Hoje quem nos conta a história é a Sandra Rosa, uma ceramista Portuguesa com uma loja colorida e lindíssima, a azulado.
Vamos descobrir a história por detrás das fabulosas taças que ela faz!

Today we hear the story by Sandra Rosa, a Portuguese Ceramist that has one wonderful and colorful shop, azulado.
We'll be learning about these gorgeous bowls on her shop!

Olá,
A cerâmica entrou na minha vida através do restauro de azulejos, profissão que ainda desempenho. Trabalhei durante muitos anos na Fundação Ricardo Espírito Santo Silva. Fiz restauros no Brasil na Bahia e Rio de Janeiro, conheci varias formas de trabalhar a cerâmica e ao longo dos anos que venho a acumular vários projectos que nunca tinha tempo de concretizar.

Depois do meu filho nascer, os projectos começaram a tomar forma. Sai da fundação e com o meu marido abrimos um atelier de restauro de azulejos que ao mesmo tempo me permitisse criar novas peças, nomeadamente cerâmica decorativa e acessórios.
Agora todas as ideias que estavam na gaveta podiam finalmente ser desenvolvidas.

Hi,
Ceramics came into my life through typical Portuguese tiles restoration, something I still do these days. I worked for many years on the Ricardo Espírito Santo Silva Foundation. I worked on restorations in Rio de Janeiro and Bahia, Brazil, I've been learning about new ways to work with ceramics over the years, so I've been accumulating a number of projects that never had time to be made.

So, after my son was born the project began to take shape. I left the Foundation and with my husband, we opened a workshop for tile restoration, which could also allow me to create new pieces: decorative and accessories.
I had now the opportunity to start developing all those ideas I had in my mind.

Adoro flores e de certa forma acho que o meu trabalho tem um pouco do azulejo português com cores actuais. As pequenas taças foram um acidente de percurso que hoje em dia eu adoro.
Tudo começou quando dentro da mufla uma flor caiu dentro de uma saboneteira simples e ficou linda.
A partir dai desenvolvi todas as tacinhas das flores.

I love flowers and somehow, I can see the Portuguese tile influence on my work, but with more modern colors.
The small bowls were actually born from an accident. And I still love them today!It all started when I accidentally dropped a flower in the kiln, that stood in a simple soap dish and I loved the result.
After that, I start making the flower decorated little bowls.

O engraçado em todo o meu percurso é que ao contrário de quase toda a gente que pensa em ter uma vida estável para depois ter um filho eu fiz precisamente o contrário, eu tinha uma vida estável e quando o meu filho nasceu eu troquei essa estabilidade para lutar por algo que me faria com certeza mais feliz e por consequência a ele também.
Acho que ser mãe me deu coragem e determinação para lutar pelos meus sonhos e poder partilhar com o meu filho essa felicidade.

The funny thing in all my life path is that unlike almost everyone, that waits for stability before having a child, I did exactly the opposite, I had a stable life and when my son was born I traded this stability to fight for something that would make me happier, and by being happier, I'll be making my son happier too. I think becoming a mother gave me the courage and determination to fight for my dreams and to share this happiness with my son.
